The Godwin Group, headquartered in Dunn, North Carolina, has acquired Williamsen Manufacturing, a Salt Lake City municipal truck equipment supplier for the western U.S.
Williamsen once held contracts for the states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming, with a substantial municipal presence in Arizona and California. Williamsen also supplies custom truck equipment to private enterprises throughout the western U.S.
The Godwin Group will assume an immediate and active role in the operations and management of Williamsen Manufacturing with an investment of over $4 million in retooling that will greatly improve their efficiencies and capabilities. Godwin hopes to make Williamsen more aggressive in western municipal markets by providing support and vast experience gained from hugely successful municipal campaigns in the eastern U.S.
Williamsen Manufacturing will keep its century old name (Williamsen) and become Williamsen-Godwin Truck Body Company. This is the first step in The Godwin Group's plans in the Salt Lake area. Future plans are in place for expansion of operations to produce products that are currently being manufactured in North Carolina facilities, thus making them more readily available in western U.S. markets. This acquisition greatly enhances the products and services offered by all Godwin Group companies, and provides a direct and centralized link to the western half of the United States.
Pat Godwin Sr., Founder, said, "It is time that we take The Godwin Group to the next level. This is the first step of many planned improvements within the group of companies, with more exciting announcements to come."
