Walker Group Holdings has opened two new service centers in Chicago, Illinois, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Both areas have high concentrations of tanks built by the company’s Brenner tank manufacturing operation.

The moves were the latest in a series of steps the company has taken that have produced more than 200 new jobs in the last twelve months. The company has major plants in Fond du Lac, WI; Kansas City, KS; New Lisbon, WI, and San Jose Iturbide, MX. In addition, Walker has operations in Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, Texas, and Wisconsin, as well as, the United Kingdom.

Doug Chapple, CEO of the company, attributed this success to Walker’s customer-centric culture, continuous focus on cost reduction, new products, diversification strategy and targeted expansion. Walker’s diversification strategy has been built around serving the defense market for transportation tanks. The company’s new military division has built several hundred water tanks, and several hundred fuel tanks. It also has produced aircraft refuelers and other specialty units for military applications worldwide.

One of the company’s relatively new products, cargo tanks made of lean duplex stainless steels, has allowed Walker’s customers to navigate around the dramatic cost increases associated with certain metals, like nickel. Already, several hundred of these tanks are transporting bulk liquids across North America.

Walker Group Holdings is a privately held manufacturer of transportation tanks, storage vessels and specialized equipment for the chemical, defense, energy, environmental, food and pharmaceutical industries with a history dating back to 1900.
