Strick Trailers is helping sponsor this year’s Run on Less Regional.

The North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) hosts the three-week freight efficiency roadshow to showcase trucks operating in a variety of regional-haul applications. The event kicks off Oct 7 at various points across the country and concludes Oct 27 at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show in Atlanta GA.

“We appreciate the opportunity to participate in the Run on Less Regional event with our customer (Pepsi), and value the co-collaborative relationship that allows Strick to build trailers to meet their goals and vision for their fleet operations,” said Jon Karel, Strick’s vice president of national accounts.

The Run on Less Regional will feature real-time monitoring and reporting for multiple factors, including miles traveled, fuel consumed, pickups and deliveries, elevation change, and vehicle speed. It also will highlight emerging technologies that aren’t yet commercially available during Technology Days throughout the run.

NACFE said it will publish the results of the Run on Less Regional in March 2020.

The 10 participating fleets, with their home base, are:

  • C&S Wholesale Grocers, Hammond LA
  • Hirschbach, Monterey TN
  • Hogan Transportation, St Louis MO
  • B Hunt, Corsicana TX
  • Meijer, Lansing MI
  • PepsiCo’s snacks and beverages division, Vancouver WA
  • Ploger Transportation, Norwalk OH
  • Schneider, Rockford IL
  • Southeastern Freight Lines, Columbia SC
  • UPS, Phoenix AZ

“Despite the shortened length of haul and operating in congested areas with more freight pickup and deliveries, fleets in regional operation strive to operate as efficiently as possible,” said Tanya Morrow, president of Ploger Transportation. “Run on Less Regional will give us the opportunity to showcase the technologies and practices that allow us to deliver goods in a time sensitive manner and get our drivers home on a regular basis.”

Strick said it will provide more details as the event approaches. Visit runonless.com for more information.
