TBB Time Travelers: July 1988 – Smarter robots & bigger trailer makers

Looking back to 1988 Trailer Body Builders

Trailer/Body Builders has produced the preeminent Buyer’s Guide for truck trailer manufacturers; truck body builders; manufacturers of school buses, tank trucks, fire trucks and other truck-mounted equipment; and distributors of truck equipment for half a century, providing the most comprehensive list of industry suppliers available anywhere – or any time.

With the 2018 Buyer’s Guide out this month, the latest edition of TBB Time Travelers highlights our July 1988 magazine, which was jam-packed with more than 300 pages of essential industry products, from acoustic treatment kits to metal rails and yard tractors, and the companies who supplied them.

The 1988 Buyer’s Guide checked in at a whopping 428 total pages – yes, we know, they don’t make print publications like they used to either (sigh) – also included a surfeit of stories scrutinizing the day’s issues, including robots in manufacturing, one truck-body makers need for custom chassis and Fontaine’s growing product line.

So, jump in the Trailer/Body Builders Time Machine and travel with us back to July 1988 with a photo gallery gleaned straight from the time-stained pages of the only magazine published specifically for those who produce and sell commercial truck bodies, trailers and truck equipment.
