Retail sales of Class 3-8 trucks were relatively unchanged in February, and light-duty models grew moderating, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications.

Dealers sold 43,331 trucks rated above 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, up 3% from January but 3% down from February 2012. Class 6 trucks fared the best, up 24% from a year ago.

Through the first two months of 2013, total sales of trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds were up 2% from the corresponding period of 2012.

Retail sales for trucks below 10,000 pounds GVWR posted healthy gains for the month. Class 1 trucks were 6% above year-earlier sales in February, and Class 2 trucks finished 15% ahead of February 2012. Overall, retail sales of trucks were 13% above January, and 7% ahead of February 2012.
