Schmitz Cargobull’s fleet of service vans hits the road
Schmitz Cargobull is expanding its range of services and recently began offering a universal mobile service for maintenance, repairs, and spare parts for on-the-spot support thanks to its franchise-based fleet of service vans, E.U.’s largest trailer manufacturer reported. This service enables maintenance and repairs to be performed on the customer’s own premises or even out on the road, ensuring maximum uptime.
The Schmitz Cargobull service partner network currently consists of approximately 1,400 authorized Schmitz Cargobull service partners throughout Europe to guarantee service for semi-trailers, cooling units, telematics components, and tires, as well as ensuring high availability of spare parts.
Schmitz Cargobull’s new service-van concept is the company’s solution to boosting its proximity to customers on the market. The mobile services will be performed either through an extended network of existing service partners or by independent individual companies organized on a franchise basis. Additionally, Schmitz Cargobull supports its franchisees with a range of services, including IT, processing, invoicing, and supplies.
Maximum uptime
Qualified experts, such as service and refrigeration specialist Hatip Olcay, who operates the first Schmitz Cargobull service van, ensure that all work is carried out quickly and reliably.
The specialists only use genuine spare parts for trailers, cooling units, and tires. This includes both spare parts from original manufacturers as well as certified “value parts”. With Schmitz Cargobull Value Parts, the trailer manufacturer offers a cost-efficient spare parts program designed for vehicle repairs in line with their current value.
"Today, I was on site at a customer's premises and retrofitted a telematics unit—at 29°C and in bright sunshine,” Olcay said. “For the customer, this means no trip to the workshop, which would have caused additional time, costs and organisation, and no driving time issues, as everything was installed without affecting driving times! No stress, no interruption to the daily routine—just straightforward.
“The customer was really pleased that everything was done smoothly and on site—no extra effort, no detours, no downtime. That's how service should be.”
The mobile service portfolio includes breakdowns, inspections, maintenance, repairs, and retrofitting services, along with on-site technical support and training for customers and service partners. In terms of products, the service portfolio covers both the Schmitz Cargobull semi-trailers and cooling units from Schmitz Cargobull and third-party manufacturers, and also covers telematics.
The concept will be rolled out in several stages over a period of three to four years, the company noted. Schmitz Cargobull is launching the pilot phase in Germany, before expanding the service with additional vans in two to three regions in various countries.
