Great Dane’s Huntsville Facility Wins TTMA Plant Safety Contest

Great Dane’s Huntsville, Tennessee, plant is a winner of the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association’s (TTMA) 2015 Plant Safety Contest for the second year in a row. The award was given for the mid-size plant.

Great Dane’s Huntsville, Tennessee, plant is a winner of the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association’s (TTMA) 2015 Plant Safety Contest for the second year in a row. The award was given for the mid-size plant.

The Huntsville, Tennessee, employees logged more than one million hours of work without a lost-time accident in 2015. The facility currently employs more than 200 people with a range of skills, including engineers, welders and support personnel. The plant – one of 10 Great Dane manufacturing facilities – is dedicated to building Freedom flatbeds and drop decks in steel, combination steel-and-aluminum and all aluminum.

“Our Huntsville employees have established a culture of safety, and this award recognizes their successful efforts to maintain a safe work environment every day,” said Dean Engelage, president of Great Dane. “Throughout Great Dane, we have a culture that puts safety as our No. 1 priority. There is nothing more important than the well-being of our employees.”

The TTMA award determinations are based on direct comparison of injury data from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Annual Summary Form 300A.
