The National Trailer Dealers Association (NTDA) is offering a scholarship for one or more graduating high school seniors whose parent is employed by an NTDA dealer, dealer branch or allied member company.
The minimum amount awarded in 2014 was $2,500. This year’s scholarship(s) are underwritten by Meritor WABCO, Michelin, HAVCO Wood Products LLC, East Manufacturing Corp., Pitts Trailers, Dynaweld Trailers, Dorsey Trailers, Durabilt by Durbin and Pressure Systems International. A number of individuals from Dealer and Allied member companies have also contributed to the scholarship program. The NTDA’s 2014 golf tournament also raised funds to support the program.
Applicant(s) must be a child (natural, adopted or stepchild) or legal ward of an individual that is actively employed by an NTDA Dealer, Dealer Branch or Allied Member company at the time of application. Students may reside in any country in which a member company is located (e.g., U.S., Canada, Mexico, etc.) The child must be a graduating high school senior who is going into college the following year.
Qualification criteria for all scholarships awarded include academic capability, financial need, personal and school references, participation in school and community activities, and work experience. These criteria are evaluated by judges using a weighted scoring system with financial need receiving 50% of the total consideration.
