Ledex Industries, maker of Avalanche snowplows, has received a US patent on its new Steel Trip Edge system with Trip-Lock

Ledex Industries, maker of Avalanche snowplows, has received a US patent on its new Steel Trip Edge system with Trip-Lock. This innovation is now covered by US Patent #7555853.

The newly patented trip edge mechanism has several advantages. First, it makes it much easier to remove and replace individual springs. The pre-load key can be removed by hand, eliminating the need for impact guns or any other power tools. Second, the lock key allows the operator to lock the trip mechanism to give a solid cutting edge. This will be invaluable when plowing on gravel surfaces or when scraping thick ice. The key can be quickly removed to resume plowing with a normal trip action.

High-strength torsion springs give a lot of stiffness for cutting through hard-packed snow while allowing the blade to trip right back over solid obstacles.
