Caruma Technologies, Inc., the Intelligent Connected-Vehicle Platform company, and RapidSOS, an advanced emergency technology company, announced they are bringing emergency response cloud infrastructure capabilities to Caruma Technologies' AI-Powered Open Vehicle Network to ensure faster help from emergency responders after serious car crashes.

By integrating RapidSOS's unique technology, Caruma can automatically transmit critical details in emergency situations—vision-augmented context, location, and vehicle information—providing 911 centers with lifesaving data to accelerate response times and improve situational awareness.

Existing 911 systems can instantly identify and locate landline calls in emergency situations; however, calls from mobile phones often cannot be precisely located by these systems and precious time is wasted trying to locate mobile callers. Caruma's solution combines artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision with high definition video and supplemental data collected by its windshield-mounted Caruma Cam device that automatically detects a crash.

With RapidSOS's technology, Caruma's system will have the ability to send critical details into the 911 system to provide situational context—such as a view of the driver and passengers, the driver's contact data, vehicle location and overall condition—so emergency responders can better assess the situation. If the driver is unconscious, emergency contacts can call 911 on behalf of a loved one, transmitting location and rich data to 911 so help can arrive quickly.

RapidSOS's technology also supplements Caruma's ability to provide security from vehicle theft and tampering when parked or the engine is off. When a security threat is detected by Caruma's proximity sensors and video cameras, an alert along with visual evidence is immediately sent to the driver. With the driver's confirmation, a voice connection with 911 automatically is established and the vehicle location and other rich data is sent to 911 so help can be dispatched quickly.

"RapidSOS is leading the way in advanced emergency technology and we believe that this combination will give customers next level protection in connected vehicles with Caruma's computer vision expertise," said Michael Martin, CEO of RapidSOS. "Caruma's value proposition of being an open connected platform fits well with our strategy and we look forward to a successful partnership that ultimately benefits emergency response systems and the people that rely on them."

"Caruma is extremely pleased to be able to advance our offerings with RapidSOS and their emergency response solution," said Chris Carson, CEO of Caruma Technologies Inc. "By integrating their 911 response technology, it will give us another advantage as we drive our software platform into the market and share the benefits of our AI-based computer vision technology."
