DISA, Wheelabrator Announce New Name

Fabrication logo The German regulatory agency has officially notified DISA/Wheelabrator Group that it has met all requirements for a legal merger.

Following an internal competition within DISA and Wheelabrator, a new name was chosen for the parent organization: Norican Group. The name Norican is derived from Noricum, an ancient Celtic Kingdom that existed in the Austria/Bavaria area circa 15BC–500AD. The region was famous for its high-quality Norican steel, which was widely used within the Roman Empire.

The strength of Norican Group lies in its two industry leading brands, DISA (the brand for moulding technology) and Wheelabrator (the brand for surface preparation technology). The company will continue to build, develop and promote these brands, and will use Norican Group for its corporate functions.

“This is a great day for the company,” said Robert E. Joyce Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer, “as we can now begin the business of bringing the combined value of these two great companies to our customers.”

Currently, the offer includes all forms of parts formation (horizontal, match plate and vertical moulding) and surface preparation technologies (airblast, wheel blast and mass finishing). The organization represents over 200 years of expertise and experience, and employs 2,200 people over five continents, with major operations in Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Poland, Switzerland, UK and USA.
