Earthwise Plastics eyes future, expands in Indiana

Earthwise Plastics Inc., a leading provider of HDPE Scuff liner for the transportation industry, has invested $4.5 million to buy and renovate a 189,000 square foot facility in Gas City, IN.

The facility gives Earthwise Plastics the springboard needed for growth in all types of industries, according to owner Roger Dyson. Increased demand for extruded parts for the semi-trailer and transportation industry has combined with revenue growth in other lumber profiles—including furniture, marine decking, and railroad industries—to drive the growth of the Indiana-based company.

“In the transportation industry Earthwise has been a growing competitor, gaining alliances and building relationships with most all OEM manufacturers, aftermarket parts distribution networks, and a high percentage of dealer parts stores nationwide,” says James Harness, vice president of sales. “We are excited about the added space and availability for growth with additional extrusion lines for increased production as well as research and development work.

“The in-house sources we have are unique in our industry. We build all of our own tooling and a high percentage of the extrusion line equipment,” Harness continues. “The tooling gives us a huge advantage when working and planning with engineers from all industries in need of customized tooling and profiles needed for longevity of their end product.”

Adds Andy Miller, vice president of finance, “We are very pleased with the new facility. The existing floor space will allow for a few years of production growth, the amenities for greatly improved traffic logistics, and the land to building additional manufacturing space will suit our needs for many years to come.”
