Trans Central, in business since 1975, is an International Trucks parts associate dealer. Owned by Linda Alcorn, Trans Central provides parts and service work for commercial trucks in a 14,000-square-foot building on 3 acres of land.
“Trans Central Suppliers is a natural fit into the Summit family,” said Justin Fink, Summit’s chief executive officer. “This is a family-owned business in operation since 1975. We look forward to meeting the employees in Sedalia, and welcoming them to our organization, as well as expanding operations and customer reach from that location.”
Sedalia is 90 miles east of Kansas City and 120 miles north of Springfield, where Summit Truck currently does business.
With the addition of Trans Central, Summit Truck now operates 25 locations in seven states (Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas). This is Summit Truck’s third acquisition, helping expand its reach in the geographical areas in which it already does business.
Trans Central now will do business as the Summit Truck Group of Sedalia, the company said. Pending completion of appropriate contracts, Summit will assume ownership of the Sedalia location in October, and Trans Central employees will become employees of Summit Truck Group.
Summit said its initial focus at this location will be to expand parts sales and grow the service capabilities.
“Summit is looking to increase our footprint in all of the states in which we do business,” said Scott Gill, executive vice president for finance and accounting. “We are looking at a number of opportunities, and are pleased that Trans Central will become a part of Summit Truck Group.”
