New Weather Guard Transfer Tank redesigned to reduce downtime, improve productivity

The new tank fits a wider range of today’s work trucks, including select short-bed pickup trucks and service bodies, giving fleet managers and vehicle upfitters more flexibility when specifying and configuring vehicles

Weather Guard recently introduced its redesigned line of Transfer Tanks, engineered to reduce downtime, simplify installation and deliver longer service life for today’s work trucks. Built around the realities contractors and fleet operators face when fueling equipment in remote work areas, the next-generation Weather Guard Transfer Tank incorporates structural improvements that deliver increased durability and ultimately provide more efficient fleet operations.

Fueling happens where the work happens, making reliable access to fuel essential for keeping equipment running and work moving, the supplier noted. As companies look for ways to maximize the productivity of every vehicle, Weather Guard redesigned its Transfer Tanks to deliver longer service life and keep equipment ready for the workday.

"When we spend time with contractors and fleet operators, we consistently hear the same thing: small inefficiencies add up quickly,” said Bryan Holby, senior product manager. “Whether it's unexpected maintenance, extra installation time or equipment that's out of service, every interruption affects productivity. That's why we redesigned our Transfer Tank to eliminate common failure points, deliver longer service life and help keep equipment running. Every design decision was made to give fleets more uptime and greater confidence in the field."

Engineered for durability, safety, uptime

Rather than simply updating the existing design, Weather Guard product engineers evaluated how transfer tanks perform under demanding real-world conditions and focused on eliminating common failure points identified through years of use. The redesigned tank features rounded corners that help reduce stress concentrations, integrated mounting tabs that eliminate common weld points, vibration-isolating mounting bushings and interior baffles that improve stability during transport. Together, these enhancements help extend product life while reducing maintenance and replacement costs over the life of the tank.

The redesigned tank also fits a wider range of today’s work trucks, including select short-bed pickup trucks and service bodies, giving fleet managers and vehicle upfitters more flexibility when specifying and configuring vehicles, according to Weather Guard. Integrated mounting tabs simplify installation while helping fleets standardize vehicle upfits across multiple trucks.

The new Transfer Tanks are constructed from heavy-duty 12-gauge steel and  protected with Weather Guard’s White and Matte Black Armor Tuf Powder Coat finishes to withstand rain, road salt, jobsite grit and demanding field conditions. Every Transfer Tank is factory leak tested before leaving the manufacturing facility to help ensure dependable performance in the field.

Additional features include:

  • Formed Rounded Corners: Reduces structural stress by 30% by eliminating welds in high-stress areas to help stop cracks before they start.
  • Integrated Mounting Tabs: Replaces welded tabs to eliminate stress points and speed up installation times.
  • Designed to meet DOT Requirements: Designed for diesel fuel and other non-flammable liquids. The Transfer Tank is intended for transport applications and is not designed for use as an auxiliary fuel tank connected to a vehicle’s primary fuel system.
  • Improved Vehicle Fitment: Narrower tank widths allow tanks to fit in pickup trucks and service bodies without compromise.
  • Lockable Vented Cap: Controls pressure and vacuum changes during fuel dispensing and temperature fluctuations.
  • Pump-Ready Design: Includes a reinforced 2-inch NPT bung compatible with most fuel pumps for easier installation.

The new Weather Guard Transfer Tank is now available through authorized
Weather Guard distributors across North America. The lineup includes 12 models in
L-shaped, rectangular, and column configurations, with capacities ranging from 50 to 110 gallons. For complete product specifications, model selection guides, and distributor locations, visit www.weatherguard.com.
