The final Class 8 tractor in Navistar’s lineup is now available with the Cummins ISX15 engine with selective catalytic reduction (SCR), and customers are ordering the International LoneStar with the technology to meet EPA 2010 emissions regulations.“We now offer a full lineup of SCR product offerings for our Class 8 customers and we have completed each launch on time—and with the highest levels of quality,” said Bill Kozek, president North America truck and parts, Navistar. “Throughout this transition, we have seen an improvement in customer confidence reflected in our Class 8 order share and we are already starting off strong with our medium-duty transition as we move into 2014.”
The LoneStar is available with three power ratings, from 500 hp., 1,850 lbs.-ft. up to 550 hp. and 2,250 lbs.-ft. of torque. It includes a 132 in. BBC with 73 in. hi-rise sleeper and wheelbases from 167 in. through 208 in. An Eaton 10-, 13- and 18-speed manual transmission is available as are Eaton UltraShift Plus 13- and 18-speed automated manual transmission.
“Customers specifically asked us for 15L in the LoneStar,” said Kozek. “This combination is what originally made the LoneStar popular and with the re-launch of the LoneStar with the Cummins ISX15 and SCR technology, our customers can turn heads and do so with reduced emissions and increased efficiency.”
