The Service Technicians Society (STS) has released “Introduction to OBD II,” a training videotape helping technicians understand the second generation of onboard diagnostic systems found on light trucks and passenger cars in North America. Viewers will learn why it was created, definitions of terms associated with OBD II, and how a system operates.

Content covers differences in OBD I and OBD second generation, diagnostic code structure, drive cycles, catalyst monitoring, and sensors.

The 115-minute video has speakers including technicians, trainers, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) experts, and representatives from diagnostic equipment manufacturers.
