Benson International Inc's engineering department has cleared them for take-off, but the new Benson Model 524 and Model 724 are aluminum platform trailers, not wide-bodied airliners. Like a modern aircraft, however, these new models offer the ideal weight-to-strength ratio needed to haul large revenue loads.
Introduced at the 2003 Mid-America Trucking Show, the new models allow the operator to maximize freight revenue without exceeding allowable highway weight limits. Model 524 is named after its deck rating of 52,000 pounds in four feet. With weights as low as 7,980 pounds, the 48' × 102" Model 524 is ideal for maximizing payloads while staying within the federally mandated 80,000-lb allowable gross weight for tractor, trailer, and load.
Model 724 with a deck rating of 72,000 pounds in four feet, was designed especially for use in states that allow permitted loads in excess of 80,000 pounds gross. Weighing as little as 8,590 pounds, the 48' × 102" Model 724 will give the operator the advantage of accepting permitted legal payloads that most carriers can't handle.
Standard specs for both the 524 and the 724 include the Hendrickson Intraax 300 suspension system and 25,000-lb rated wheel ends. Both models are covered by the Benson International Five-Year Pro-Rated Warranty.
