Citing superior tire quality and delivery service, the United States military's Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) has recognized two divisions of Michelin North America with performance awards. Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT) and Michelin Aircraft Tire Co. (MATC) were awarded Best Value Medal silver awards recently.
Michelin is one of 89 companies among the DSCC's 8,200 suppliers to receive the military's Best Value Medal. This medal is awarded to companies that have demonstrated exceptional quality and delivery performance as measured by the Automated Best Value System (ABVS). The ABVS is a computerized system that collects a vendor's past performance data and translates it into a numeric score ranging from zero to a perfect 100.
To be eligible to receive an ABVS award, a supplier must have shipped 50 or more contract line items for the DSCC during a 12-month rating period. To qualify for a gold medal, a supplier must have a perfect score of 100. A score of 99.0 through 99.9 earned silver, and those with scores ranging from a 98.0 through 98.9 were awarded bronze medals.
Since winning the contract, MATT has processed nearly 38,000 orders and has delivered more than 352,000 tires to 1,400 locations worldwide. Michelin manages an inventory of more than 330 line items manufactured by Michelin and other major tire manufacturers and consistently meets or exceeds the standard established by DSCC for on-time deliveries.
