Cummins Emission Solutions to Reduce Workforce at Mineral Point

Cummins Emission Solutions (CES), a subsidiary of Cummins Inc., announced it is reducing its Mineral Point Plant workforce by approximately 100 employees

Cummins Emission Solutions (CES), a subsidiary of Cummins Inc., announced it is reducing its Mineral Point Plant workforce by approximately 100 employees effective immediately due to the downturn in the North America truck on-highway market it serves.

“It’s unfortunate we have to take this action. Despite our strong market position, like many companies we are experiencing the effects of the ongoing economic downturn, which has had a negative impact on our business,” said Nitya Rao, CES Mineral Point Plant Manager.

The Mineral Point facility predominantly manufactures diesel particulate filters for emission control systems that help North American trucks meet the current emissions regulations. The use of CES filters reduces soot and particulate matter by more than 90 percent.

Mineral Point, which is located in the southwestern part of the state, currently employs 480 employees.

“Cummins Emission Solutions remains well positioned to respond when the market rebounds,” said Dan Davis, General Manager of CES North America Business. “Products like ours are critical in meeting the increasingly stringent emissions standards being implemented globally.”
