XL Specialized introduces new extendable trailers

Oct. 14, 2013

The new XL hydraulic and mechanical extendable trailers feature a new patent-pending main deck design and patented extend-a-trac technology that allows users to extend and retract the trailer without hooking and unhooking air and electric lines.

The XL HDE is available in a 40-ton (80,000 lb overall and 60,000 lb in 10’ concentrated capacity) and a 45-ton (90,000 lb overall and 70,000 lb in 10’ concentrated capacity). The XL MDE is available in a 35-ton (70,000 lb overall and 50,000 lb in 10’ concentrated capacity) as well as 40-ton, and 45-ton.

The main deck comes standard with 14 chain drops, 8 bent D-rings per side, and removable swingout outrigger brackets on 24” centers (for use with swingout outriggers).

Traction aids on the rear bridge transition assist when loading onto the rear bridge, while 4 pan style D-rings on the rear deck and gooseneck add tie-down versatility. The trailers comes prepped for a flip axle and 36” long flip neck.

The HDE 2 axle, 48’ long trailer has a 28’ 7” main closed deck that extends up to 49’11” with extension stops every 24”.  The 10’5” long hydraulic neck offers variable ride height with 7 positions, 49” fifth wheel height, and 84” swing clearance, air operated lock with safety latch, as well as brackets for a 36” flip neck. Chose to run off of a wet kit or add a 13hp Honda hydraulic unit.

The MDE 2 axle, 48’ long trailer has a 29’ main closed deck that extends up to 50’4” with extension stops every 24”. The 10’ long full-width gooseneck with 49” fifth wheel height and 84” swing clearance has a lockable toolbox with aluminum cover, chain rack, and a light for finding items at night with ease. Manual ride height and double donuts allow users to vary deck height.
