Transcraft Corporation announced that it intends to idle its Mount Sterling, Kentucky, platform trailer production facility before the end of the year, to better match its manufacturing capacity with customer demand.

Depending on future order rates, production activities at the Mount Sterling facility will be idled before the end of the year. The company will evaluate platform trailer demand and order placement levels when considering the timing and need for reopening the facility. The Mount Sterling facility currently employs approximately 110 associates. The main Transcraft platform trailer plant in Anna, Ill. will remain open and continue to produce trailers.

"This was a difficult, but prudent decision. As we continue to evaluate market conditions, we will remain sensitive to the effects this has on our associates," said Terry Campbell, General Manager of Transcraft Corporation. "However, after careful consideration we felt it was necessary to bring capacity in line with demand due to slow market conditions and certain customers pushing their requirements into early 2008."
