We have a winner.

Jon Stein, owner of Centre Dairy Equipment & Supply in Sauk Centre MN, claimed Felling Trailers’ FT-3 drop deck utility trailer with a last-minute bid of $3,400 in the sixth annual Trailer for a Cause online auction, this year benefiting the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA).

The winning bidder’s business is located only a short distance from Felling’s Sauk Centre location, where the trailer was on display leading up to the auction, which closed Sept. 21.

Stein’s wife, Laurie, is an ovarian cancer survivor. She was diagnosed in November 2017, and then underwent surgery and chemotherapy treatment.

“It was a rough winter, but we’re doing good now,” Stein said.

After placing the winning bid, Stein went home to tell Laurie the news. “I didn’t even know he was going to bid on the trailer,” she said. “He said, ‘You’ll never guess what color it is,’ (and) I said ‘teal?’

“(Then) I said, ‘Oh, did you buy it for me,’ and gave him a big hug.”

Laurie recently had her three-month check-up, and everything is continuing to look good, the family said.

This is Stein’s second win in the Trailer for a Cause auction. He was the winning bidder on Felling’s inaugural auction in 2013 benefitting Bright Pink, a non-profit organization that focuses on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer.

“A good friend of the family had breast cancer, so the pink trailer had a lot of meaning for us,” Stein said.

The 2018 Trailer for a Cause FT-3 utility trailer was painted in MOCA’s signature teal color and included the MOCA emblem. Taskmaster Components donated the wheels and tires, and PPG Industries donated the custom metallic teal paint.

Felling wanted to raise awareness and support individuals who take part in and benefit from the events and services provided by MOCA. The auction ran for seven days, and 100% of the $3,400 bid benefits MOCA.
