The Norwegian Postal Service has ordered 907 new semi-trailers, bodies and trailers from the Kögel and Ekeri partnership for its two logistics divisions, Bring Logistics and Bring Frigoscandia.

The Finnish refrigerated body and folding wall specialist, Ekeri, represents Kögel as importer and service partner in Norway, Sweden and Finland. In spite of the preliminary insolvency proceedings which the Kögel Fahrzeugwerke GmbH is currently involved in, the Norwegian Postal Service – one of the largest transport and logistics service providers in Northern Europe – has placed a great deal of trust and confidence in the two closely cooperating vehicle manufacturers. The contract, which is scheduled to run over the next two to three years, was signed last week in Oslo.

"Kögel and Ekeri convinced us not only because of their products but, in particular, due to the comprehensive range of services provided by Ekeri which also offers the same for the Kögel products,” said Torleiv Brennhovd from the Norwegian Post.

Included is an extensive service network in Scandinavia and throughout Europe as well as additional services relating to the purchase and utilization of the vehicle fleet.

Partners Ekeri and Kögel have been working together since 2007. Ekeri sells and markets Kögel products through its existing sales organization in Finland, Norway and Sweden. In all three countries, Ekeri also has strategically positioned spare parts facilities as well as more than 20 service workshops. These also function as authorized service and repair centres for Kögel.

In addition to sales and service, Ekeri has been manufacturing its own trailers and semi-trailers as well as truck bodies for more than 50 years. The company has specialized in insulated and non-insulated box bodies with folding sidewalls. Ekeri prepared an extensive service package for the Norwegian-based Bing Group which includes, among other things, a leasing as well as a full-service contract for all 907 vehicles.

The order covers refrigerated and box body vehicles with and without folding walls along with curtainsider semi-trailers as well as refrigerated bodies and trailers. For both the refrigerated vehicles and curtainsiders, Bring has ordered a large number of these to be suitably equipped for allowing transportation by rail. While Kögel will supply the standard semi-trailers, such as Cool-MAXX reefers and Cargo-MAXX Strong sliding tarpaulin semi-trailers, Ekeri will be producing all folding wall versions.
