Great Dane honored its suppliers at its second annual Supplier Summit in Savannah, Georgia. The 2016 award winners include: Valspar Corporation in the safety category, Mid Plains Industries in the quality category and Hendrickson in the cost savings category. Hoosier Tank and Manufacturing received the award for small supplier of the year, and MidWest Material received the award for large supplier of the year.

The award for excellence in innovation was added this year to recognize the supplier who designed the most innovative, short-term business solution during Great Dane’s 2015 Innovation Challenge. In order to win, the supplier’s idea had to have been implemented and beneficial to Great Dane within the past year. The winner of this award was New Process Steel, whose innovative idea helped Great Dane optimize its steel purchases and significantly reduce costs in just a matter of months.

“The strong performance of suppliers helps Great Dane maintain its position as a leader in the transportation industry,” said Bob Brege, vice president of Procurement. “The Supplier Summit is a way for us to honor our suppliers and recognize the outstanding work they do for us all year. They truly are partners in our effort to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of goods.”

“We will continue to bring challenges to our suppliers in the hopes of finding creative solutions that bring value in new and interesting ways,” said Rick Mullininx, executive vice president, Engineering.
