Faymonville spotlights semi-trailer concepts at IAA

Sept. 21, 2018
Faymonville, headquartered in Luxembourg, spotlighted several of its trailer concepts at the 2018 IAA Commercial Vehicles show.

Specialty vehicle manufacturer Faymonville, headquartered in Luxembourg, spotlighted several of its trailer concepts at the 2018 IAA Commercial Vehicles show, including the “unique, far-reaching” CombiMAX low loader.

The 2+6 CombiMAX, the largest exhibit the company displayed at IAA, stays “true to the construction kit principle,” with a 2-axle bogie that can be extended when unnecessary.

Faymonville said the CombiMAX is No. 1 in payload range, handling up to 120 tons as a result of the trailer’s optimum dead weight, which is achieved through careful attention to the vehicle superstructure.

The double-extendable CombiMAX comes equipped with low PA-X pendle axles for every terrain, combining “several advantages at once.”

“The vehicles are built very low with a continuous loading height of 790 mm (31.1 inches),” said Rainer Noe, Faymonville product manager. “The PA-X offers much more, though. The unbeatable stroke of 600 mm (23.6 in) makes the semi-trailer extremely off-road-capable. And the steering angle of 60° makes it highly maneuverable when the route demands it.”

The steering is precisely and easily adjusted by a new hydraulic system, the company said, resulting in extended tire life. The rigid design also enables the transport of compact loads (e.g. transformers) without compromising on deflection—even in the extended state or with the largest excavator troughs available.

Faymonville spotlighted its trailer concepts at the 2018 IAA show in Hannover, Germany. For complete coverage of IAA 2018, make sure to pick up the November issue of Trailer/Body Builders magazine.
