Doonan Specialized Trailer, LLC has acquired the assets of Chaparral Manufacturing, Inc. Chaparral has been producing a line of all-aluminum platform trailers in Moundridge, Kansas, since 1986. In 2007, the company produced approximately 400 trailers.
Doonan Specialized Trailer, LLC, based in Great Bend, Kansas, has been building trailers since 1973 and produced over 700 units in 2007. Doonan Specialized Trailer, LLC is in a niche market of highly specialized steel platform trailers, including custom flatbeds, drop decks and double drops.
According to Elgen Reynolds, co-manager of Doonan Specialized Trailer, LLC, "the addition of the Chaparral brand allows us to provide our customers with a complete product offering of all-steel and all-aluminum flatbeds, drop decks, and double drop trailers."
According to Mike Gordy, co-manager of Doonan Specialized Trailer, LLC, "the relocation of the Moundridge facility will be complete by the end of May and we are truly excited that 30% of the Chaparral team will join us in this transition." Moundridge, Kansas, is located just 70 miles southeast of Great Bend, Kansas.
