Mack Trucks has named Richard “Rick” Hoyle as vice-president of national accounts. Hoyle previously served in a variety of senior leadership positions for a leading bulk transportation and logistics company. He also owned and operated a bulk haul business for 16 years.

STI Holdings Inc and Stoughton Trailers LLC recently named Jim Kachidurian as STI Holdings senior vice-president–sales and marketing and Luke McMaster as vice-president of sales and marketing–dealer for Stoughton Trailers. Kachidurian was previously senior vice-president of customer experience at Donlen Corporation and senior vice-president–corporate lending at GE Capital. McMaster served previously  as dealer development manager at John Deere.

Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has appointed Jeff Allen and Stefan Kurschner to its Operating Committee. Effective August 1, Allen becomes DTNA’s senior vice-president of production, quality and specialty vehicles and will be based in Fort Mill SC. As of July 1, Kurschner will lead DTNA’s aftermarket business units as senior vice-president and will be based at the company’s headquarters in Portland OR. Allen is currently vice-president of operations at Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) in Redford MI. Kurschner is president and CEO of Daimler Vehículos Comerciales Mexico.

COMPONENT MANUFACTURERS

João Faria

announced João V Faria has been appointed president of Eaton’s Vehicle Group, effective May 1. He succeeds Kenneth F Davis, who has announced he will retire August 1. In 2013, Faria was appointed to his most recent dual role leading the Electrical business in Latin America and serving as corporate president for South and Central America. An Eaton employee since 1986, Davis has served as president, Vehicle Group, since 2011.

Phillips Industries has hired Jeffrey McKeown in the new position of OEM trailer and technical sales manager. He most recently was director of OEM and fleet sales at Tectran.  Phillips has hired David Diaz as director of marketing. He has held creative and marketing positions at Los Angeles advertising agencies IQAir and Body Glove, and launched and ran a 22-person strategic marketing and advertising agency in Phoenix AZ.

VMAC announced that Stuart Coker has accepted the position of director of operations. Coker began his career at the firm almost 20 years ago and most recently served as the director of operational excellence.

Haldex has temporarily appointed Andreas Ekberg chief financial officer, effective by June 1, 2017. Ekberg previously served as CFO of Haldex and was succeeded by Åke Bengtsson in autumn 2015. After Bo Annvik’s resignation, Bengtsson was appointed acting president and chief executive officer and Ekberg was named to fill the CFO role.

Karmak Inc announced that John Pacione has been appointed president/CEO. He has been president and co-founder of a healthcare industry software company and also worked as vice-president of development for Allscripts, a healthcare solutions software company.

INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION PROFILES

The National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) recently appointed George Survant as senior director of fleet relations. In this newly created role, he will work with Christopher Lyon, NTEA director of fleet relations. Survant has served 25 years as a telecom fleet leader, 17 years as a power company fleet leader and four years as an executive in the fleet safety certification and inspection industry.

OBITUARIES

James Arthur Downey, Southeast regional sales manager at Hutchens Industries, died April 16 from pancreatic cancer. He had served with Hutchens for almost 12 years. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations in Downey’s honor to Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church Building Fund (PO Box 380396, Birmingham AL 35238) or to pancreatic cancer research through the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).

Donald Royce Anderson, owner of Anderson Manufacturing Inc in Camilla GA, died February 16 in a crash of his private plane near Vada GA in Decatur County. He was 50. In 1988 at age 21, Anderson founded Anderson Mfg, now one of the largest trailer, truck body and equipment manufacturers in the Southeast. Trailer/Body Builders profiled the company in 2002, describing how it rebounded from a devastating tornado in 2000 to emerge even stronger.
