Fontaine Fifth Wheel now offers what it is calling the lightest steel fifth wheel assembly in the industry: the Fontaine 6NWB.
This new product features the lightweight 6000 No-Slack top plate mounted to the lightweight Fontaine NWB sliding bracket. The net result is about 60 pounds lighter than the competition, plus the added benefit of Fontaine’s No-Slack technology so the lock automatically self-adjusts to trailer kingpin variances for a smoother ride, lower maintenance costs and longer component life. No change was made to the No-Slack lock components so customers can count on the same performance, and parts are interchangeable with older models.
“We’re really proud of the engineering team that made this happen,” said Mike Randolph, vice president of sales and marketing for North America. “Using Finite Element Analysis technology and strategic placement of high strength alloy steel, they accomplished this goal without sacrificing an ounce of performance, durability or load rating.”
