    Main Steel builds new flagship operation

    Main Steel, a Shale-Inland Company, unveiled plans for a new flagship operation in the Chicago IL area. The 240,000-square-foot facility in Elk Grove

    Main Steel, a Shale-Inland Company, unveiled plans for a new flagship operation in the Chicago IL area. The 240,000-square-foot facility in Elk Grove IL is strategically located to serve the entire Midwest. Main Steel will combine its two Chicago operations in Bartlett and Wheeling under one roof. The move, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2012, will increase Main Steel's total square feet and improve the speed and flexibility of the operation.

    Main Steel will add an 84" heavy-gauge cut-to-length line and a plate polisher to the new facility to supplement its array of processing equipment already operating in Chicago. The new plant will house coil polishing, sheet polishing, dairy and plate polishing, three cut-to-length lines, buffing, and slitting.

    David Brewer has been named director of operations, Chicago, and will be in charge of the new Elk Grove plant. He comes to Main Steel with decades of experience and was most recently with Esmark Steel Group, where he was vice-president, operations.
