Kaltenbach Becomes Structural Machinery Solutions

Fabrication logo Following a recent management buy-out, Kaltenbach, Inc. – the US Division of Kaltenbach GmbH, a leader in metal sawing machinery – the Columbus, Indiana, company has undergone a name change and is now known as Structural Machinery Solutions, Inc.

Operating from the same building and with the same core staff in sales, service and parts, SMS, Inc. remains the sole North American importer for Kaltenbach high-performance circular saws and CNC production bandsaws. In addition, SMS, Inc. represents Hyd-Mech – the Rock Solid sawing solution from Canada, and Geka heavy-duty ironworkers supplied by Comeq, of Baltimore, MD. Most recently, SMS was approved to represent Controlled Automation line-up of structural fabricating machinery.

“Broadening our machinery portfolio to satisfy a wider range of customer requirements demanded a higher degree of autonomy and flexibility than is possible as a wholly owned subsidiary of one manufacturer,” said Dave McCorry, co-owner and president of SMS. “As SMS, Inc. we are now able to offer a comprehensive range of quality sawing and structural steel fabrication equipment, to augment the existing Kaltenbach metal-sawing machinery – which we will of course continue to support and expand.”
