DAIHEN Inc. recently celebrated the opening of the welding systems supplier’s Detroit Technical Center in Commerce Township, MI.  Housing regional sales, applications, and service, the new facility offers additional space for a full manual and robotic welding lab to house the latest in welding technology, all innovated, manufactured, serviced and supported by OTC Daihen.

“We are proud and excited to deliver even better support and service for our regional customers in Michigan, Canada and the North Central region” says DAIHEN Inc. President Masanobu Uchida.

The open house event included the following technical equipment demonstrations:

Pre-engineered robotic welding production cell

  • ECO-ARC 200 cell with new FD-V8 welding robot, WELBEE P500L weld power source and Synchro-feed Aluminum welding package performing 3D printing using W.A.A.M. (wire & arc additive manufacturing)
    • Synchro-feed is exclusive OTC Daihen technology that delivers very low heat input using a combination of servo-controlled wire feeding and welding waveform performing a PulseDip transfer welding process

Robotic welding

  • FD-B4S 7-axis welding robot, WELBEE (Welding’s Best Electronic Engine) P500L weld power source and Synchro-feed Galvanized welding package on galvanized steel with CO2 cover gas
    • High-quality, low-cost welding of galvanized steel using inexpensive CO2 cover gas
  • FD-V8 welding robot, WELBEE P500L weld power source and FD-QT laser camera seam tracker/finder welding stainless steel
    • Laser seam tracking with simple setup through touch-screen, robot teach pendant

 Manual welding

  • WELBEE P500L pulse/low-spatter weld power source with Intelligent Torch on mild steel.
    • WELBEE represents our latest generation of weld power source built around the company’s six-year/$10 million investment in a custom LSI processor
  • WELBEE P400 pulse weld power source with Intelligent Torch on aluminum.
    • Intelligent Torch adds push button control and display to the torch body providing remote control access to the settings of the weld power source for critical settings like Amps, Volts, Wire Feed Speed, Program Selection, etc.
  • New DTX-2200 AC/DC Pulse TIG weld power source
    • 220 Amp, single-phase shop welder with integrated water cooler, trolley and torch, all for under $5,000.

“The new Detroit Technical Center demonstrates our commitment to improve the advancement of our exclusive manual and robotic welding technology to our important customers in the region,” adds Mike Monnin, general manager of DAIHEN Inc.
