Marangoni Tread North America expanding Tennessee plant

Company says US production, central distribution provide competitive advantage over product importers

Bill Sweatman, president and CEO of Marangoni Tread North America, says an expansion is underway at the company's Tennessee tread manufacturing plant.

“With unit sales up this year, production had to be increased right away. Independent retreaders’ business remains strong and we expect demand to continue to increase as we move into 2019. We will be adding additional capacity to manufacture the XP Extreme Performance wide-base Ringtread here in the US,” said Sweatman.

The Ringtread XP Extreme Performance line exceeds the benefits of the Ringtread system by combining two technologies:

  • The RINGTREAD technology, splice less, precure and double contour profile.
  • MARANGONI engineering, innovative compounds and original design.

The new production line, expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2019, will produce Ringtread’s up to and including 500-millimeter widths.

“Our primary goal every day is to provide our customers with the best-in-class products at the time they need them,” said Chanthavy Vongsamphanh, Marangoni's vice president of operations. “This expansion will allow us to optimize our already successful demand-driven inventory system and we will be expanding our workforce by 10%, thus creating more American jobs.”
