Truck equipment shipments in 2006 increased almost 16% over those in 2005, according to data collected by the National Truck Equipment Association's (NTEA) Annual Manufacturers' Shipments Survey (AMSS).

The NTEA recently released the eighth annual AMSS findings to manufacturer member companies that participated.

For manufacturers of many work truck and trailer products, the AMSS is a credible source of data to estimate the size and growth rate of their market segment. They can also compare their company's performance with the industry in general.

AMSS results are presented as actual quantity and value of shipments data as well as indexes. The calculation of indexes allows for historical continuity over time as the mix of companies participating changes from year to year.

This year nearly every manufacturer of van bodies in North America participated in the survey.
