XTRA Corp, based in Westport CT, recently acquired certain transportation equipment assets of Leasing USA Inc, a subsidiary of Gainey Holdings Inc. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Bill Franz, president of the XTRA Lease division, said, “Acquiring the trailers of Leasing USA will enhance our equipment pool and bolster our ability to serve our customers through our street corner strategy.”
Lewis Rubin, president and chief executive officer of XTRA Corp, said, “These assets fit well with our existing over-the-road trailer operation, and this acquisition is consistent with our growth strategy.”
A Berkshire Hathaway company, XTRA Corp leases over-the-road trailers, marine containers, and intermodal equipment, mainly on an operating basis. Equipment leased includes intermodal trailers, chassis, and domestic containers.
