Wabash extends 2Q earnings

Wabash National's bottom line received a boost during the second quarter to $18 million, an increase over the previous quarter's $6.9 million. Net sales rose to $255 million for the quarter, up from $222 million in the previous quarter.

For the first half of the year, Wabash posted $25 million in profit and $476 million in sales. During the first half last year the company reported a net loss of $26 million and net sales of $453 million.

"We were successful in obtaining price increases to more than offset rapidly escalating prices for key raw materials," stated Bill Greubel, Wabash president & CEO.

"Results for the quarter clearly demonstrate both the capability of our manufacturing organization to leverage higher value on increased volume and the value of our technology complementing and expanding our market presence throughout the industry."
