Valspar today opened its new powder coatings production facility next to its liquid coatings plant in Jiading, China.

Located about 35 miles north of Shanghai, this new plant will have a total of 51,000 square feet of space and capacity will be 10 million pounds, with future expansion for an additional 10 million. The building’s front includes 12,400 square feet housing a General Industrial Research Center for liquid, ecoat and powder coatings development and an analytical laboratory.

Valspar is a $3 billion global leader in the paint and coatings industry, with a broad range of products including industrial, architectural, packaging, automotive refinish, floor coatings and specialty polymers and colorants. China is the fastest-growing powder coatings market in the world and an important growth market for Valspar. This expansion of the Shanghai site will allow Valspar customers in China to benefit from the faster product delivery capabilities and enhanced level of services that can now be offered.

The opening of this new plant follows the recent acquisition of the powder coatings business of H. B. Fuller Company and significant majority of the share capital of Huarun Paints Holdings Company Limited (Huarun Paints), one of China’s largest independent coatings companies, and will better allow Valspar to serve customers which are involved in producing products for the domestic and export markets.
