Utilimaster Corp has acquired certain assets from Union City Body Co (UCBC), a manufacturer specializing in walk-in vans and other service vehicles. Terms of the acquisition, which took effect November 15, were not disclosed.

This acquisition includes 200,000 square feet of production and office capacity in five facilities, along with machinery, equipment, and tooling, on a 127-acre site in Union City IN, as well as all related intellectual property.

“This acquisition expands Utilimaster's geographic offering,” said Utilimaster president and chief executive officer Larry Doyle. “In addition, these expanded facilities will offer a more efficient manufacturing process with continuously improving quality.”

Future product offerings will be based on the Utilimaster platform, using systems and procedures from both companies, Doyle said.

In addition, Utilimaster will also continue to service the UCBC parts business. “UCBC has more than 100,000 vehicles in the marketplace,” Doyle said. “Those with UCBC vehicles in their fleets will enjoy the same parts service as our Utilimaster customers.” Those wishing to access current UCBC parts should phone 800-588-6264.

Utilimaster manufactures custom commercial vehicles including dry freight truck bodies, high-cube vans, and walk-in vans for use in package delivery, truck rental, bakery/snack delivery, linen/uniform rental, and utilities fleets. Established in Wakarusa IN in 1973, Utilimaster employs more than 1,000 in design, manufacturing, sales, and customer service.
