The Used Truck Association (UTA) named Paul Spokas of Oak Ridge NC its 2005 Marvin F Gordon Lifetime Achievement Award recipient at the association's sixth annual convention in Savannah GA recently.

With 32 years of commercial truck industry experience, Spokas is the founder and president of Heavy Duty Marketing Associates Inc, a marketing consultancy and training organization for suppliers to the commercial truck industry.

The UTA's highest honor, this award recognizes sustained contributions and leadership in the used-truck industry and community. It was created to commemorate Marvin F Gordon's accomplishments in the used-truck industry.

Spokas' career in commercial trucks began in 1973 as a commissioned retail sales representative. Joining White Motor Co in 1976, he spent the next 21 years with that organization holding positions in export and domestic parts sales and marketing, along with new and used truck sales, marketing, and operations.

A long-time UTA member, Spokas served as its treasurer and secretary for two years and as board member for 11 years.
