Grote Industries has created a new training program covering truck lighting and electrical systems. Called Grote Know-How, the program is based on multi-media programmed instruction techniques originally developed for the computer and defense industries.

Aimed at distributor sales and fleet maintenance functions, the program is designed to give the participant understanding of the basics of vehicle electrical systems, as well as special requirements of vehicle safety and lighting systems for medium- and heavy-duty trucks. The program consists of:

  • Self-study guides — Two volumes covering the basics of vehicle electrical systems, selection of correct product, installation techniques, and systematic troubleshooting.

  • Video format training — A concentrated version of the self-study guides in an interactive DVD format. These will also be available in French and Spanish.

  • Internet course — An interactive self-study course available over the Internet.

  • Shop and store posters — Color posters highlighting key concepts in installation and troubleshooting for use out front or at the point of installation.

  • Fleet night tech tips — Simple illustrated solution sheets for the most common lighting problems.

  • Participating distributor certification — Recognition of test completions from everyone at a distributor or jobber location.

  • VoTech school support program — Specially created materials to help vocational/technical schools teach the basics of vehicle safety systems.
