Orders Now Being Taken For Kenworth T440

The Kenworth T440, which was officially unveiled at the Mid-America Trucking Show, is now available for order with production slated for the second quarter, Kenworth has announced. Targeting regional-haul and P&D applications, the new truck has a GVW ranging from a heavy Class 7 vehicle at 33,000 lb to a light Class 8 at 68,000 lb. It comes standard in day-cab configuration with the optional Kenworth Extended Day Cab model, adding six inches in length and five inches of cab height.

The T440 is equipped with a Paccar PX-8 engine standard with ratings of 350 hp and 1,000 lbs.-ft. of torque. There is an optional 9-liter, 2010 Cummins ISL engine at 380 hp and 1,300 lbs.-ft of torque available. There are both 5- and 6-spd. automatic transmissions or 6-, 9-, 10-, 11- or 13- spd. manual options offered.

The front axle is rated at 12,000 to 22,000 lbs. with 21,000 to 30,000 lbs. single rear axle rating or 40,000 to 46,000 lbs. tandem rear axle rating.

The truck includes an aerodynamic sloped hood, tapered channel bumper, Kenworth signature grille, and forward lighting with Halogen projector headlamps. Available as options are an aluminum or 3-piece aerodynamic bumper and high intensity discharge (HID) lighting. The T440 comes standard with the Kenworth Driver Information Center.
