The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has launched a new association for manufacturers and importers of commercial vehicle racking and modular storage systems.

The Commercial Vehicle Racking Association, the first of its kind in Europe, will improve installation standards and address safety related issues. Standards for vehicle bulkheads will be a priority for the new body.

Andrew Humphrey, managing director of Bri-Stor Systems Ltd, will be the chairman, with David Barber, managing director, H Modul Ltd, acting as his deputy.

Says Christopher Macgowan, chief executive of SMMT: “SMMT is delighted to support the CVRA. The Association's drive to improve safety is very much in line with the Society's philosophy that the industry should take the lead in such matters.”
