The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) announced that Bart Thompson, innovation engineer for Michelin's Tweel, an integrated tire and wheel combination that operates without air, will be keynote speaker at the SME Summit, set for Aug 3-4, 2005, at the Olympia Resort & Conference Center, Oconomowoc (Milwaukee) WI.
Michelin showcased the Tweel at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January 2005.
The SME Summit will focus on leading technologies of the technical community network, including innovative strategies and tools to improve products and operations in areas including Rapid Technologies; Product & Process Design and Management; Engineering Materials Applications, Machining and Material Removal, Forming, and Fabricating; Automated Manufacturing and Assembly; Manufacturing Education and Research, and Professional Development.
