Specialized Vehicles Corporation (SVC), parent company of Kidron brand truck bodies and trailers, has announced the opening of its manufacturing plant in Montgomery, Pennsylvania.
"We have an order backlog for almost 300 dry freight units," said John May, Kidron president. "Opening this facility will let us meet our customers' expectations and actively solicit new dry freight orders in June that can be delivered in July and August. Subsequently, we intend to broaden our product offering in Montgomery to our full line of refrigerated and dry freight bodies and trailers."
Among the products now being manufactured in Montgomery is the new Cargo Star dry freight van that Kidron introduced at the recent NTEA trade show.
The 235,000-square-foot plant was acquired in July 2003 and re-tooled to produce Kidron products. Located at 914 Saegers Station Road, Montgomery, Pennsylvania, it is staffed and fully equipped for assembly, fabrication, paint and service.
Located near the growing New England market, the plant is Kidron's fourth operating facility. The Tulare, California, facility, also acquired last July, was opened last year. Other plants are in Kidron, Ohio, and Lakeland, Florida.
