J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers, a division of Somerset Welding and Steel Inc, has completed a 120,000-square-foot facility in Somerset PA. The new plant contains 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 20,000 square feet for administrative offices and training classrooms. Addition of this plant provides a total capacity of more than 260,000 square feet to manufacture dump truck bodies, trailers, and specialty equipment.

The new plant is fully operational and opened in December 2000. It will implement computerized statistical control processes, new manufacturing equipment, and ISO 9001 quality procedures.

Dana Spicer Provides Aftermarket CD-ROM Dana Corp's Spicer Heavy Axle and Brake Division has produced a new Dana Spicer Aftermarket CD-ROM, providing an instrument for accessing information regarding exchange carriers and remanufactured carriers.

This CD-ROM contains product information, literature, and documentation in an electronic format. Information includes: general program introduction, Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, unit exchange dealer program guide, remanufactured part number list, and illustrated parts list for axle carriers and remanufactured units.

NTEA Issues 2001 Member Guide/Directory Nearly 1,600 companies that manufacture, distribute, install, sell, and repair commercial trucks, truck bodies, truck equipment, trailers, and accessories are featured in the 2001 edition of the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Membership Roster & Product Directory.

The 200-page book provides details on each NTEA member company in alphabetical order, including its membership category, affiliate memberships and join-date, complete address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address, Internet URL, contact name, and product lines.

New "services" were added to company descriptions, including 24-hour mechanic, emergency road services, employs ASE-certified technicians, ISO 9001-or 9002-registered qualified system, and repair/painting. All members were invited to include these services in their listings, including - for the first time - distributor members (body builders/upfitters).

This resource also has a geographical cross-reference listing for all three of membership categories (manufacturer, distributor, and associate). Manufacturer and associate members are also cross-referenced within these product categories: equipment, bodies, trailers, and services. Distributor members are also included in the services cross-reference.
