Hayes Lemmerz Achieves Safety Milestone

For fiscal year 2000, Hayes Lemmerz International has recorded its best-ever safety statistics. Worldwide, the overall incidence rate for the firm was 13.1, a 16% improvement from 1999; and in North America, it was 8.3, a 23% improvement from 1999.

Several Hayes Lemmerz manufacturing facilities achieved safety milestones — an incidence rate below 5.0 — for the 2000 fiscal year. The injury rate is the total number of injuries severe enough to require treatment by a doctor, per 100 workers.

Pune, India — European Fabricated Wheels

Ostrava, Czech Republic (Autokola) — European Fabricated Wheels

Ostrava, Czech Republic (Alukola) — European Cast Wheels

Hayes Lemmerz's automotive brakes manufacturing facility in Homer received the 54th annual Safety Award from the board of directors of the Safety Council for West Michigan. This is the second consecutive year that the Homer site has been recognized by this agency for its safety performance.
