The Freightliner Group was a big winner in this year's Tranny Awards, which recognize outstanding marketing communications in the North American transportation industry. Freightliner took home seven awards in the competition, sponsored by the Transportation Marketing and Communications Association.

An advertising campaign that launched the new C2 school bus manufactured by the Freightliner Group's Thomas Built Buses earned two awards. The campaign, created by Portland OR-based advertising agency HMH, included print ads, posters, billboards, direct mail and a variety of tradeshow collateral. The overall campaign earned an Award of Merit in the Integrated Communications Program category. One element of the campaign, a metal lunchbox in the shape of the new bus, received an Award of Excellence, the highest honor bestowed by the association.

Two Awards of Merit were received for a campaign developed for the Mercedes-Benz automated gear shift transmission, a component available on select Freightliner trucks. These were awarded in the Advertising Campaign category and the Integrated Communications Program category. Also winning an Award of Merit in the Communications Collateral category was a brochure for the multi-functional vehicle the Unimog. Each was produced by HMH.

In the Audio Visual category, the Freightliner Group received an Award of Merit for a training series entitled “RV Selling Success,” produced for the Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp by Fort Wayne IN-based LaBov and Beyond. In the Advertising Campaign category, Sterling Trucks received an Award of Merit for the “This is Your Truck” ad campaign, produced by WYSE Advertising in Cleveland OH.
