Six vehicle fleets have received the inaugural Propane Exceptional Energy Fleet award from the Propane Education & Research Council and members of the propane industry at the United States Department of Energy's seventh National Clean Cities Conference.

Award winners were recognized for commitment to propane as an alternative fuel choice for fleets. Honored were Schwan's Home Delivery of Marshall MN, Danone Waters of North America of Pasadena CA, Northside Independent School District of San Antonio TX, the State of Florida's Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Transportation, and Yellow Checker Star Cab Co of Las Vegas NV.

Roy Willis, president of the council, said more than 350,000 vehicles fueled by propane are on the nation's roads, and most of these vehicles are used by fleets.
