Charles J Calvin, former president of the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association (TTMA), died Sept 19, 2003, at his home in Annapolis MD. He was 84.

Charles J Calvin, former president of the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association (TTMA), died Sept 19, 2003, at his home in Annapolis MD. He was 84.

Born April 12, 1919, in Tamaqua PA, Calvin graduated from Tamaqua High School in 1937 and also attended George Washington University. He served in the United States Marines in the South Pacific as a master sergeant and part of the combat correspondence unit.

Calvin worked for the Automobile Manufacturers Association and began service with TTMA in 1956. He became that group's president in 1964 and served until retiring in 1989.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Calvin, whom he married Sept 12, 1942; one son, Michael Calvin of Houston TX; three daughters, JoEllen Gass of Clinton MD, Ann Ellis of Alexandria VA, and Peggy Brookman of Annapolis; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. His son, David Calvin, died Sept 14, 2003.
