Caterpillar Inc and Blue Bird Corp recently showcased Blue Bird's first school bus with Caterpillar's Advanced Combustion Emissions Reduction Technology (ACERT) technology. Caterpillar says it is currently the only engine manufacturer to offer both medium- and heavy-duty truck and bus engines that meet the United States Environmental Protection Agency's 2004 emission standards.

Blue Bird unveiled its new Vision school bus — powered by ACERT technology — at an event co-hosted by Jeffry Bust, Blue Bird president and chief executive officer, and Glen Barton, Caterpillar chairman, in Fort Valley GA recently. Caterpillar signed a long-term engine supply agreement with Blue Bird late in 2002 to provide most of engines used in Blue Bird's school bus production.
