OVERALL attendance was up 25.7% at TruckCan `98 held in October in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. During the weekdays, attendance was up 39.4%. Show promoters attributed the increased attendance to the strength of the Canadian economy.

"With the economy being the way it is, we expected an increase in attendance," said Erin Oliver, vice-president of public relations at Wire Communications in Toronto.

Because of growth in the trucking industry, show management increased floor space by 20% using six halls in Toronto's International Center exhibit hall. Major truck manufacturers exhibiting at TruckCan `98 included Ford, Freightliner, General Motors, Hino International, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, Volvo, Western Star, and Sterling.

Over 450 companies exhibited at the TruckCan `98 show. The next TruckCan will be held Oct. 26-28, 2000 at the International Center. Canada's national truck show alternates between TruckCan and Expocam, which will be held at Place Bonaventure in Montreal, Quebec, Oct 21-23, 1999.
